Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Care Planning

Course overview

Care workers play a key role in ensuring their residents/patients are treated with a friendly and caring approach. Care workers have the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds.

After an investigation from the Care Quality Commission revealed that 424 out of 1,357 services in England are rated ‘inadequate’, the need for high-quality trained care workers has never been greater.

Learning Outcomes

This qualification is designed for learners who are looking to enter employment in, or progress within, a number of sectors where an understanding of care planning is important. This qualification aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of:

  • the principles and processes of person-centred thinking, planning and review
  • how to work with individuals to carry out activities specified in their care or support plan, including person-centred assessment, planning, implementation and review
  • the promotion of health and well-being through nutrition and hydration
  • supporting individuals to maintain personal hygiene
  • supporting individuals to manage continence and the use of continence equipment
  • supporting individuals with sleep.

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:

  • prepare to enter or progress within employment in a variety of sectors and job roles where an understanding of care planning is required.

What you will learn

A statement of what a learner will know,understand or be able to do as a result of a process of learning. As well as achieve a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Care Planning which is an nationally accredited and recognised qualification.

Course content unit 1

This unit contains four sections:
Section 1: Understanding person-centred thinking and planning
Section 2: Care planning for the care worker
Section 3: Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
Section 4: Extension activities

This unit contains four sections:
Section 1: Understanding nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings
Section 2: Understanding continence care
Section 3: Principles of supporting sleep
Section 4: Extension activites
