Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems

Course overview

Mental health presents one of the greatest challenges to our society. With an estimated 450 million people worldwide suffering from a mental health problem, around a quarter of British adults will experience some form of mental health problem within the course of a year. While many elements of mental health are still not understood, having a good knowledge of the information that is available is essential in the care sector.

Learning Aim

“This qualification is designed for anyone looking to develop their understanding of mental health and the problems that can cause mental ill-health.
This qualification aims to raise awareness of mental health and a range of mental health problems.
The objective of this qualification is to develop the learner’s understanding of a range of mental health problems, which could be used to support their role in the workplace or
where they may work or interact with individuals with mental health problems.”

Learning outcomes

A statement of what a learner will know,understand or be able to do as a result of a process of learning. As well as achieve a NCFE CACHE LEVEL 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems which is an nationaly accredited and recognised qualification.

“This unit contains six sections:

Section 1: Understanding mental health
Section 2: Understanding stress and anxiety
Section 3: Understanding depression
Section 4: Understanding postnatal depression
Section 5: Understanding bipolar disorder
Section 6: Extension activities “

This unit contains eight sections:

Section 1: Understandiing phobias
Section 2: Understanding eating disorders
Section 3: Understanding attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Section 4: Understanding obsessive compulsive disorder
Section 5: Understanding post-traumatic stress disorder
Section 6: Understanding dementia
Section 7: Understanding schizophrenia
Section 8: Extension activities
