Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care

This figure is likely to rise to one million by 2025 and two million by 2051. It is one of the main causes of disability in later life and with research being desperately underfunded, it costs the UK over £26 billion a year. Understanding dementia and the person-centred care that is required is fundamental to high-quality care.[/ohio_text][ohio_heading subtitle_type_layout=”without_subtitle” module_type_layout=”on_left” heading_type=”h4″ title=”TGVhcm5pbmclMjBBaW0=” title_typo=”null”][ohio_text text_typo=”null”]This qualification aims to assist learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for those with dementia. It covers areas such as personcentred care, the influence of positive communication methods, issues relating to the use of medication for those with dementia and the importance of providing appropriate activities.

The qualification doesn’t infer competence in the work role, but can be used to support the underpinning knowledge and understanding needed for those working in, or towards, a dementia care role.[/ohio_text]
