Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Principles

Course overview

With a UK industry turnover estimated at £4.7 billion in 2011, cleaning is one of the largest business sectors in the UK. It underpins many aspects of life today and is essential for the prevention of disease and the spread of infection.

People actively seek out clean, safe and comfortable environments, so having a highly-skilled cleaning workforce is essential.

Learning Aim

This qualification aims to:

  • Provide learners with a range of underpinning knowledge in both generic and specialist cleaning principles
  • Meet the needs of learners who work or want to work in the cleaning sector.

The objective of this qualification is to help learners to:

  • Develop their knowledge and understanding of the skills required for working in the cleaning sector.

Learning outcomes

A statement of what a learner will know,understand or be able to do as a result of a process of learning. As well as achieve a NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in in Cleaning Principles which is an nationaly accredited and recognised qualification.

Course content unit 1

Dealing with routine and non-routine waste

This unit contains two sections:
Section 1: Understandprocedures for handling routine and non-routine waste
Section 2: Understanding how to handle and transfer routine and non-routine waste

Course content unit 2

Health and safety for the cleaning and support services industry

This unit contains three sections:
Section 1: Understanding the health and safety legislation which applies to the cleaning and support services industry
Section 2: Understanding how to work in a safe manner
Section 3: Understand how to control risks in the workplace

Course content unit 3

Working with customers and others in the cleaning and support services industry

This unit contains three sections:
Section 1: Understanding how to communicate effectively with customers
Section 2: Understanding how to meet customers needs
Section 3: Understand how to contribute to effective team working

Course content unit 4

Cleaning of interiors and washrooms
This unit contains three sections.
Section 1: Be able to prepare for the cleaning of interiors and washrooms
Section 2: Be able to carry out the cleaning of interiors and washrooms
Sections 3: Be able to check cleaning and resources, dispose of waste and return equipment
